Export figures: research by the Nomisma Machinery Observatory

On the occasion of Cibus Tec Forum, the new exhibition-conference on Food Technology trends to be held on 25 and 26 October at Fiere di Parma, the Machinery Nomisma Observatory has produced a research on export data in the Food & Beverage and Packaging technology sector. Here are some highlights.
In the first six months of 2022, Italy exported Food & Beverage technologies to the value of 1,722 MLN euro, with a year-on-year trend variation* of +7.8%, confirming its position as the world's leading exporter, ahead of Germany, the Netherlands and the USA. In the first six months of 2022, the main importers of Italian technology were the USA (Euro 174 MLN, var. +4.2%), followed by France (Euro 136 MLN, var. +8%) and Germany (Euro 121 MLN, var. +24.8%). The most exported types of machinery for the food sector were: equipment for the preparation of hot drinks or for cooking/heating food (Euro 595 MLN), bakery/pastry or pasta-making machinery (Euro 338 MLN) and, more generally, machinery for the industrial preparation or manufacture of food and beverages (Euro 224 MLN).
As far as exports of packaging machinery are concerned, in the first half of 2022 Italy ranked second internationally, after Germany (€2,689 MLN), with a value of €2,500 MLN (-5.4% compared to the previous year); followed by China, the Netherlands and the United States. Once again, the United States is the top importer, with a value of 373 MLN euro (although with a variation of -6.21%), followed by France, with a value of 217 MLN euro (in great growth: +20.8%) and Germany, with a value of 172 MLN euro.
At Cibus Tec Forum, organised by Koeln Parma Exhibitions, a joint venture between Fiere di Parma and Koelnmesse, the future of the food and food tech sector will be discussed and the latest and most efficient made-in-Italy food technologies will be previewed, thanks to the 150 companies attending. Four international conferences and ten thematic workshops will address the most influential trends that will impact the future of food & beverage production, packaging and distribution in the near future.
