The poultry sector seems to have entered a phase of normalization after two complex years due to the management of production costs and the impacts of avian influenza, the largest epidemic ever recorded in Europe according to EFSA. In particular, there was a partial readjustment of production costs, including energy costs, which recorded a decrease of between 30 and 40% compared to the same period of the previous year. A look at the shopping cart generally shows a reduction in proteins in 2022 in terms of volume (-1.2%), but overall meats lose only 0.8%, supported by pork.
