EU Commission: 6-month extension for aid to agriculture and fisheries

Up to EUR 335,000 for companies affected by the crisis or Russia-related sanctions

05, May 2024

The European Commission adopted an amendment to the Temporary Crisis and Transitional Framework for State Aid in order to extend by six months certain provisions of the framework aimed at addressing persistent market disturbances, in particular in the agriculture and fisheries sectors.

On 11 April 2024, the Commission had consulted Member States on the continuing serious disturbance of the economy affecting in particular the primary sector of agriculture and the fisheries and aquaculture sectors. The Commission also took note of the conclusions of the European Council of 17 and 18 April 2024, which emphasised the importance of a resilient and sustainable agricultural sector for food security and the strategic autonomy of the EU, and supported further work on a possible extension of the temporary crisis and transition framework.
