The threat of PSA has been underestimated to the benefit of an alleged boar welfare

With the discovery of new infected wild boar carcasses, PSA is accelerating its course in our country and threatening more closely the areas of the Po Valley where pig herds are destined for PDO production.

"Unfortunately, in recent times the spotlight on this health threat has been lowered," explains Francesco Feliziani, Head of the National Swine Pest Reference Laboratory, "preferring to give visibility to ideological positions that aim to defend an alleged welfare of wild boars. Intensive livestock farms are not the absolute evil and only correct information could focus attention on the absolute priority of the production world, which is animal welfare, with respect to which breeders are making huge investments'.

The health threats threatening Italian pig farms, starting with PSA, will be one of the topics that will animate Suinicoltura Congress, the event that EV Edizioni Veterinarie srl has organised for 27 February 2023 in Cremona at Palazzo Trecchi entitled 'Health, technology, sustainability, economy the drivers of modern pig farming'. The proceedings will start at 9 a.m. (www.suinicolturacongress.it)
