Minister of Agriculture and Ecological Transition accepts farmers' demands
The Ministry voted against the exclusion of red meat from Regulation 1144/2014
29, Oct 2022
We wish to thank the new Minister Lollobrigida for having accepted the requests of the Italian beef sector - said the President of the Interprofessional Organization Alessandro De Rocco and the President of the National Transformation Committee, Dr. Serafino Cremonini - in learning that today the Ministry has voted against the exclusion of red meat from Regulation 1144/2014, which establishes the rules for accessing tenders financed by the European Union, for the promotion of agri-food products.
We are very satisfied that our appeal, sent yesterday, has found immediate acceptance by our Minister Lollobrigida - reiterated the representatives of breeders and processors - and this bodes well, so that during this legislature our Plan can be completed. National Beef.
What is happening in Europe leaves us disconcerted - continues De Rocco - because we cannot explain the fury of Brussels against a sector that feeds about 500 million European citizens and boasts a breeding system, diversified country by country, but with a of environmental, social and economic sustainability that is not found in any other Third Country.
Even the President of AOP Italia Zootecnica - Fabiano Barbisan - joins the thanks to the new Minister Lollobrigida and imagines an epochal turning point in the policy of the ministry which, with the new name, aims at "Food Sovereignty", essential for food security.
The world of beef is always under attack - says Dr. Cremonini - and the rambling actions of a certain policy put at risk a sector that represents in Italy a turnover of over 6.3 billion euros, equal to about 4% of the turnover of the agri-food industry, which employs 230,000 people, including breeders and processors. We are very satisfied with the action of the new Minister Lollobrigida.
