During the General Assembly, Consorzio Parmigiano Reggiano presented its economic data for the third quarter (January-September 2022). After having closed a positive 2021, with a consumer turnover of 2.7 billion euro, in 2022 the Consortium recorded — compared to the first nine months of 2021 — an increase in total sales of 2.9% (95,079 tonnes vs 92,366 tonnes), with an increase in volumes also in international markets, which grew by 1.3% (43,887 tonnes vs 43,331). There was also a positive sign for sales in the Italian market: +4.4% (51,191 tonnes vs 49,035 tonnes), thanks to the recovery of the catering channel and direct sales, which increased by 4% (10,990 tonnes vs 10,570 tonnes).

The assembly also addressed the issue of the regulations governing the production of cheeses similar/comparable to Parmigiano Reggiano, amending the bylaws and introducing a ban on the production, in the dairies of the chain, of other cheeses that are comparable/uncompatible with the PDO. Lastly, the assembly resolved to raise the exemption of contribution exemption to 3% with respect to the additional contribution foreseen in the supply regulation plan as a measure to approach the new plan.
