The interconnection between olive oil and the sea is the main theme of the 14th edition of Olio Officina Festival, staged at Genoa's Magazzini del Cotone from Feb. 27 to March 1. Tastings, talks, workshops to learn about the many nuances of oil and condiments
The atavistic and deep connection between oil and the sea is the main theme of the 14th edition of Olio Officina Festival, and it is being celebrated right in a city by the sea, in Genoa, during a three-day event dedicated to oils and “condiments for the palate and the mind,” from Thursday, Feb. 27 to Saturday, March 1, at the Magazzini del Cotone convention center in the Old Port, with free admission (subject to availability).
Conceived and directed by Luigi Caricato, an oleologist, journalist, writer and one of the world's leading oil experts, Olio Officina Festival has established itself over the years as the only Italian think tank in the olive oil sector, offering olive oil enthusiasts, the curious, experts, as well as food & beverage operators and large-scale retail buyers the opportunity to taste — in guided and comparative tastings and workshops — both extra virgin olive oils and table olives from all over Italy, so as to discover the infinite nuances of the more than 500 varieties (cultivars/olive varieties) grown in our country, and also from the rest of the world. There will also be space for oils paired with food and for vinegars and other condiments, which will also be featured in experiential stories, tastings and recipes. Rounding out the review will be a busy schedule of talk-shows and conferences.
