The proposal to reduce VAT on oysters from 22 per cent to 10 per cent represents an opportunity for companies in the Italian fishing industry. Reducing VAT would in fact make it possible to implement oyster farming and diversify production, especially in those areas of our country hardest hit by the blue crab emergency, as well as guaranteeing greater accessibility to a product currently reserved for the few. In the same spirit of supporting businesses in the supply chain, it is also essential to move forward with the proposal to reduce VAT on fish products from 10 to 4 %, as is already the case today for agricultural products. In this sense, we have shared Parliament's proposals and Minister Lollobrigida's commitment, and we believe that an overall revision of the VAT system for fishery and aquaculture products is fundamental in order to support and strengthen a sector that is fundamental for the country's food economy. Thus in a note Francesca Biondo, director general of Federpesca.
