Fish without catch certification
Adm (Customs and Monopolies Agency) officials from Livorno and fishing inspectors from the Livorno Maritime Directorate's 2nd Fisheries Area Control Centre carried out a thorough joint inspection activity last week as part of the broader and more consolidated cooperation relationship between the two institutions for the overall protection of fish resources and the guarantee of information for national consumers.
European regulations on combating illegal fishing stipulate that all fish products coming from non-EU countries must undergo a scrupulous analysis of the catch certification attesting to the legality of the catch in accordance with international laws before being entered into the commercial circuit of a Member State.
