Emilia Romagna fisheries also attended yesterday's meeting with Environment and Energy Security Minister Pichetto Fratin

26, Jan 2023

The offshore wind farm project to be built off the coast of Rimini was the focus of an informal meeting organized by the Hon. Jacopo Morrone and the former parliamentarian Elena Raffaelli, during which the exponents of a broad transversal representation of the economic world and the tourist supply chain of Rimini explained their doubts and the reasons for their concerns to the Minister of the Environment and Energy Security Gilberto Piquetto Fratin. Also present at the meeting was the world of fishing and aquaculture represented by Massimo Bellavista, Emilia-Romagna Fishing and Aquaculture Manager of Legacoop Agroalimentare. The representative of the fishing category, who participated on behalf of the Alliance of Fishing Cooperatives of Emilia-Romagna (ACI Pesca ER), spoke highlighting the various critical issues for fishing related to the construction of offshore wind farms but also the strong concerns of fishermen related to navigation and the safety of human life at sea. "I have submitted to the Minister - Massimo Bellavista declares - the need to promulgate a national framework law that regulates access, navigation and management of fishing and aquaculture activities within the concessions dedicated to offshore wind power, to prevent different ordinances apply in each maritime compartment of the Italian coasts. Furthermore, the issue of navigational safety - concludes the fisheries representative - should be given particular attention since, as far as we know, we have no studies and research into the impact that electromagnetic waves will have on on-board electronic equipment and which could compromise the safety of who works at sea and who lives the sea every day".
