Fish remains king of Christmas menus, but frozen is advancing by leaps and bounds
Crisis and price rises increase frozen fish on Italian tables
07, Dec 2022
Christmas is just around the corner and Italians, as every year, are preparing to set the table for Christmas Eve dinner, which - as per tradition - will have a single protagonist: fish.
You don't touch Christmas in the beautiful country: despite inflation, Italians don't want to give up fish-based dishes, which they choose not only fresh, but also frozen. In fact, based on the latest data emerging from the 2021 Annual Report on the Consumption of Frozen Products in Italy, produced by IIAS - Istituto Italiano Alimenti Surgelati, the domestic consumption of frozen fish products recorded a growth of +2%, reaching 113,300 tons.
