Ligurian fishermen's voluntary closure is triggered
The Ligurian fishermen's voluntary moratorium on anchovy fishing in the Ligurian Sea has been lifted. "This voluntary closure has always been carried out by Ligurian fishermen and is not remunerated by the state," emphasises Daniela Borriello, regional manager of Coldiretti Impresa Pesca. "It stems from respect for local traditions and from the realisation that fishing activity must go hand in hand with good management of the resource, which is also demonstrated by the reports of scientific bodies that affirm that the small pelagics in the Ligurian Sea are in good health.
