‘Focus on technological innovation and greater environmental awareness’
Tackling the challenges of generational turnover in the fishing and aquaculture sector by improving training, working conditions and communication to attract new generations, overcoming prejudices linked to a negative perception of the profession. This is what emerged from the new report by UGL Agroalimentare settore Pesca ‘Ricambio generzionale e formazione: orientamenti e pregiudizi degli italiani sull'occupazione nel settore pesca e acquacoltura’ (Generational change and training: Italians' attitudes and prejudices on employment in the fishing and aquaculture sector), carried out by the demoscopic institute Lab21.01 and presented in the Sala Capitolare of the Senate. The study analyses Italians' perceptions of the fishing and aquaculture sector, with a focus on the challenges of generational turnover and the need for more training to attract new generations. The event was realised with funds from the 2022-2024 Three-Year National Plan for Fisheries and Aquaculture.
