Coppa di Parma PGI, consumer turnover at 73 million euro

And the Canadian market accounts for almost half of total exports

A consumer turnover of 73 million euro, with growth in the Canadian market coming close to half of total exports. These are the main figures for 2023 communicated by the Consorzio di Tutela della Coppa di Parma IGP. In 2023, the volume of certified product grew by 7%, reaching more than 2 million kilograms, while more generally, production settled at 2022 levels, approaching 4 million.

The performance of pre-sliced products was good, which after a negative start to 2023 reached the previous year's levels, especially thanks to a 15% increase in November just before the Christmas holidays. 

Large-scale distribution confirmed itself as the main marketing channel, maintaining a 70% share of the sector’s turnover. Growth in the Ho.re.ca. sector.

The performance recorded for exports was excellent, reaching 10% of the sector’s turnover, especially as regards Canada, within a market where Coppa di Parma PGI has been growing steadily since its entry ten years ago. In 2023, the North American country exceeded 45% of the overall export quota, confirming its supremacy as the largest importer of Coppa di Parma PGI, while the EU area continues to represent the main destination thanks to trade partners such as Germany, France, Belgium, Holland and Luxembourg.
