The University of Turin, the Polytechnic of Turin, the University of Eastern Piedmont and the University of Gastronomic Sciences participate in the Centre, with the aim of attracting funding for applied research lines and becoming an international reference point on the topic
The new Centre for Studies and Research on Sustainable Food, set up by the University of Turin, Politecnico di Torino, Università del Piemonte Orientale and Università di Scienze Gastronomiche di Pollenzo, was presented to the press today. Speakers included Stefano Geuna, Rector of the University of Turin, Guido Saracco, Rector of the Polytechnic University of Turin, Gian Carlo Avanzi, Rector of the University of Eastern Piedmont, Bartolomeo Biolatti, Rector of the University of Gastronomic Sciences in Pollenzo and Cristina Prandi, Vice-Rector for Research in Natural and Agricultural Sciences at the University of Turin.
The centre, which will be based in Pollenzo at the University of Gastronomic Sciences with Carlo Petrini as president, will be a hub for research and studies on food as an overall good, linked to ecology, sustainable agriculture and consumption, sensory education, conscious lifestyles the well-being of the living, the circular economy, food policies, and not only technological but also conceptual and model innovation, with the aim of attracting funding for applied research lines and prototype development processes, and becoming an international reference point on the subject.
