Three million euro to promote aquaculture activities and foster the processing and marketing of products. This is the aim of the call for proposals published on the website of the Sicilian Region's Mediterranean Fisheries Department.
‘Our aim,’ says the Regional Councillor for Agriculture and Fisheries Salvatore Barbagallo, ’in line with the indications of the European Union, is to support micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises in Sicily that operate in the aquaculture, shellfish, and aquaponics sectors through investments that can improve production and safety equipment, including on board service vessels. All with a view to long-term sustainability from an environmental point of view. These are measures of fundamental importance to support a sector that has always been strategic for the Sicilian economy, helping entrepreneurs to work in increasingly safe and modern conditions'.
