Fishing and aquaculture: an evolving sector

At Conxemar 2023

05, Oct 2023

The program of meetings that the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry organized within the Italy Stand on the occasion of its participation in Conxemar 2023 ends today with the round table dedicated to Producer Organizations.
The event represented an important moment to reiterate the Ministry's commitment to the valorisation of the Italian fish resource, offering companies in the fishing and aquaculture sector from 12 Regions the opportunity to present their product in an international context, to intercept business opportunities and to create connections.
In Vigo the Italian fish product is confirmed as synonymous with freshness, quality and safety, a recognition that arises from the ambitious path supported by the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund which supports the supply chain in the transition towards sustainable fishing, intelligent aquaculture and eco-friendly.

In these three days, the Italia Stand was able to describe a sector of excellence, capable of innovating and creating a system to meet the new needs of the market, and put the spotlight on the gastronomic heritage of Italian fishing. This was also possible thanks to the collaboration with Chef Enrico Derflingher, a true ambassador of Italian cuisine in the world, who managed to enhance the raw materials through his fish-based recipes. For the preparation of tastings and lunches, the Chef was supported by 11 pastry, cooking, dining and hospitality students from the Giancardi Galilei Aicardi Higher Education Institute of Alassio-Albenga (Sv), demonstrating the attention that the Ministry has towards the promotion of a culture linked to the Italian identity heritage.

The event is financed by the EMFF 2014-2020 - European Fund for Maritime and Fisheries Affairs.
