Appointed by the Consortium members’ meeting held on Tuesday 18 June at the “I Portici” hotel in Bologna
Cristiano Ludovici is the new president of the Istituto Salumi Italiani Tutelati, the Association of Consortia for PDO and PGI deli meats, for the three-year period 2024-2027, representing 19 Protection Consortia and 23 protected products. The unanimous nomination of Cristiano Ludovici, CEO of the Gruppo Alimentare Valtiberino, who until now has held the position of vice-president, rewards and ensures the strategic and political continuity of the institute's work both in terms of institutional representation and in the internal coordination of the Consorziati.
«It is a source of great pride for me to have received this important appointment from all the Consortia members of ISIT. I take up the baton from outgoing president Lorenzo Beretta with determination and gratitude, as I have always considered ISIT the place to bring together the Consorzi di tutela with the aim of making our PDO and PGI cured meats, an increasingly strategic asset of quality agro-foodstuffs, grow. In this scenario, I will pay particular attention to ISIT's role in fostering an even closer relationship between the Consortia and their territories, because, let us not forget, Geographical Indication is born and strengthened thanks to that indissoluble bond that unites product, quality, and territory of origin: on the basis of this awareness, the Consortia can contribute, also with the new GI regulation, to the growth of the economic and social fabric of local economies».
