New catch limits in the Mediterranean and Black Sea and compensation for bottom trawling are envisaged
The European Commission adopted this morning its 2025 fishing opportunities proposal for the Mediterranean and Black Sea. The measure promotes the sustainable management of fish stocks in the Mediterranean and Black Sea and fulfils the political commitments made in the MedFish4Ever and Sofia declarations.
The remaining fishing opportunities will be proposed after the results of the annual session of the General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean (GFCM) and the publication of new scientific advice expected in mid-November by the Scientific, Technical and Economic Committee for Fisheries (STECF).
