Palermo: Coast Guard seizes over 1,000 kg of untraced fish

The food, assessed as fit for human consumption, is donated to charity to the Food Bank

13, May 2024

The umpteenth seizure of untraced fish was made in Palermo: 1025 kilos were found by Coast Guard soldiers at the Sicilian capital's fish market, in Via Francesco Crispi. The fines amounted to €15,000, but the alleged perpetrators of the offence - about ten people - made themselves untraceable, fleeing just as the Coast Guard men arrived. It was therefore not possible to charge them with the administrative violations.
