Prosciutto Crudo di Cuneo among the European PDO excellences in the new project enhancing Europe’s distinctive agri-food heritage

The objectives of the project include increasing the international recognition of PDOs and expanding their knowledge and distribution

It is called “Eccellenze DOP: un savoir-faire tutto europeo” (PDO excellence: an all-European savoir-faire): it is the new three-year European project involving the Crudo di Cuneo PDO Consortium in partnership with the Garda DOC, Salame di Varzi PDO and Montasio PDO Consortia, co-financed by the European Union. The main objectives of the initiative include increasing the international notoriety of European high-quality products distinguished by the PDO mark and expanding their knowledge and distribution as 'jewels' of Europe's agrifood heritage.The project was presented at Vinitaly in Verona (14-17 April). «This is the first time that the Consortium for the Protection and Promotion of Crudo di Cuneo has participated in a European project» says Consortium President Chiara Astesana (in photo). «A new chapter in the history of Crudo di Cuneo PDO begins here. In fact, the ham will be presented and proposed in new markets, beyond the Alps, such as Germany and Austria. Over the next few years we will welcome groups of buyers, journalists and sector operators to the province to introduce them to our production reality. Participation in this project entails an important investment for the Consortium that we can support thanks to the contribution of the European Union».
