Yesterday, Wednesday 16 October, the Parmigiano Reggiano Consortium celebrated the 90th anniversary of its foundation with a special evening at the Regio Theatre in Parma in the presence of Sergio Mattarella, President of the Italian Republic, in recognition of the importance of the PDO as a founding product of Italy’s heritage and the value of the work of those who participate in its creation every day. The event, entitled 7 beats, 90 years of the future, was a moment to celebrate the important anniversary with all member dairies, supply chain operators, local authorities, national media and representatives of economic entities in the area of origin. It was also an opportunity to present two important projects that will be landmarks for the Consortium's future: the Digital Historical Archive and the new Sound Identity of Parmigiano Reggiano. After the presentation of the “Golden Knife’ gift to the President of the Republic, an Italian goldsmith’s representation of the iconic almond-shaped knife used to open the wheel and hurl the cheese, the event ended with a dinner at the Complesso Monumentale della Pilotta.
